Palm Pre Gets A Release Date

Over the past few years phone companies have been playing their own corporate game of king of the mountain. Right now, Apple and AT&T are wining the fight. When the iPhone was first announced people were already sold. When it came out and featured a great touch screen interface, email support, google maps, youtube, and a very reliable safari browser critics and fans alike sung its praises. Now it is the most sought after phone on the market next to the other powerhouse, the Blackberry.

Like any success though, it does come with its burdens. Since the iPhone established its dominance every phone manufacturer has been trying to knock it off of the top. The Blackberry Storm, Samsung Instinct, LG Voyager, and HTC Touch Pro were all contenders. Still, none of them succeeded. Who would have thought the one to topple the Goliath of the phone industry would be the small company known as Palm.

Palm Pre

Already popular for their Treo and Centro designs, Palm announced that the Pre would be their newest addition. Then like magic we began to see them on tech blogs and forums everywhere until the day finally came when we would know its release date….

On June 6th, the line will form and Sprint will begin sale of the most anticipated tech item of the year. The phone will also be on sale at Best Buy, Radio Shack, & Wal-Mart. Starting at $199 with a new contract and a $100 rebate, the Pre will retail for $850.  Armed with a flourish App store that boast apps for Pandora, Amazon, and CNN the Pre is coming out swingin. If your lucky enough to get your hands on the first batch of phones, count yourself lucky because the President of Palm is already predicting a shortage. Get your tent ready for an over night wait…
